Genital warts are caused by human virus (HPV). However, you cannot rely on the visual presence of genital warts to if is infected with HPV. In some cases, warts never appear or can appear years after the virus.

In women, warts appear inside and outside of the vagina (vagina – labia majora and/or pubic area) and inner thighs.
